Hello, and welcome to another post. I have not been as consistent with posting as the summer draws to a close, making sure I savor every last second before classes start in a couple of hours.
I wanted to share this outfit, something that encompasses my summer style. On Instagram and tumblr I’ve seen crop tops and shorts, tube tops and summer dresses, which are all beautiful pieces of clothing. I wear shorts and dresses, but not many crop tops. Whenever I want to dress lazy but still look cute, this is my go to outfit. Adidas sweatpants with vans and a tank top.
My twin, mom and I were spending our morning walking downtown, spending time together before I had to work in the evening. I wanted something that I could move around with, but also something that made me feel.. well sexy. Tying a shirt like this always brings me more confidence, and the sunglasses and bag makes me feel more put together than I thought I was in that moment.
Well with this look, I bide summer goodbye, bring on fall fashion x
Hello everyone and welcome to my newest post. I was looking through my pictures and found an outfit I was really excited about. Lately I’ve been trying to be more perceptive about my surroundings, trying to find a diamond in the rough.
I was hanging out with my friend and I really wanted a crepe, so we went to an antique store that has a gelato shop in the front part. Sadly, there were no crepes, but there was an opportunity to try some gelato for the first time. The gelato was really good, and was much thinner than ice cream so I had to eat it quickly, which is difficult for someone who eats as slowly as me.
We walked through the store, and was drawn to the highly decorated walls, full of art from all places of the world. I was mentally figuring out where I wanted to take pictures holding my ice cream, and went to sit where the art was being hung, making sure I got a good picture with both my dress and the art hanging behind me.
My town of Salem, Oregon has a couple of antique stores, and this was one I had never been to before. There was so many different things to look at, from desks and books to their own collection of gift cards. Being a history major, I was like a kid in a candy store. I found items dating back to the 60’s, that were conserved so well over time. As time goes on I’ve noticed how historic my city is, being the capital of Oregon has led to antique stores, travel areas and more modern cafes and restaurants, which make great backgrounds for outfit pictures.
Hello everyone and welcome to my blog. I am excited to talk about this outfit, especially because it is the first item of clothing I’ve ever been given to from my older sister. She went shopping and the shirt was too small so she gave it to me. I am so glad she did because it made me reevaluate how I looked at my sense of style.
This shirt is far more risqué than what I am used to wearing. This shirt is meant to be worn without a bra, which is already a step away from what I usually wear. The back is open, with a tie on both the top and bottom. Nonetheless, I love the way they shirt has the ruffles below the sheer lace, it acts as a divider between sheer and dark fabric. The flower details are my favorite, they make the shirt so much more feminine. The straps are rather long at the end of the sleeves, but they are a nice addition.
I wore this shirt with shorts and vans, since I wanted this to be the focal point. I always tend to figure out one piece to wear and create my outfit around that, most of the time it is the shirt. I wear a shirt I like, and I figure out what would look stylish in terms of shoes and jeans.
With this outfit, It was soooo hot out that I knew I had to wear shorts no matter what. These are shorts I dont usually wear, so I chose these. The vans always make my outfits feel more casual, even with such a top like this. I like that there was something very casual such as the shoes, but also something very intricate by wearing the shirt. I used an ascot as a hair tie, and wore my go to tiny sunglasses to make this outfit cooler. When in doubt, wear tiny sunglasses.
Let me know what you think of this outfit, and if you like my shirt from free people. Have a great day
Hello! Welcome to another blog post. I honestly never know how to start these, introductions are always the hardest parts in anything I do.
This post is one I am very excited about, given the location. As time goes on and I think about where I want my blog to be, I realize that the quality of my content has to develop and grow. Taking pictures of my outfits in my backyard is something I want to stray away from. I am taking advantage of the beautiful scenery in my city, finding all the treasures that allow me to show of both my city and the outfits I love so much.
These pictures were taken by one of my oldest friends, Vivian. Whenever we hangout she asks if I want to take outfit pictures, and would I really be a blogger if I declined? We hadn’t talked in a while since school kept us so busy, so we had a great excuse to hangout and see what we’ve been up to over the last couple of months.
We went to a coffee shop in the downtown part of our city, one I had only been twice before. I loved the aesthetic of the place. It is full of bookshelves, plants and wooden furniture. They use old books when giving receipts, and their bar is rather impressive. The bottles reach the ceiling in an intricate way of assortment that lines the middle of the building.
Neither of us are really fans of coffee, so we tried tome sweet iced teas. The moment we got our drinks, we took our phones out of our pockets and started to take pictures. I used the flash, she grabbed a book from behind me and we started to create as many different combinations of flat lays.
She took my picture while we waited for our tacos, and at first I felt awkward taking pictures in a place full of people, but I liked my outfit and wanted to share it with you all. When people walked in and out they would make eye contact and I would feel somewhat conceited, but I carried on.
I felt good, and I wanted to embrace that feeling. I kept moving to every different chair around us, trying to get the best angles and great lighting. Every picture was so different, it captured both my outfit as well as the attempt at doing my makeup. I always stick to highlighter, mascara and lipstick. I love using highlighter because I like the glow it gives my face in pictures, especially with natural lighting.
Let me know what you think of this outfit and if you like the location. Have a great day x
Today I will be talking about my favorite thing about my outfits lately. I have been getting more interested in accessories, especially gold ones.
As time goes on I realized how important they are to an outfit. By wearing necklaces, earrings, rings, scarves, belts and so much more, an outfit can look more chic and interesting.
As some of you may know, I have gold hoop earrings, and a necklace saying ‘love that I’ve been wearing constantly.
The following outfit is something is very exciting to wear. It makes me feel like a badass, in all honestly.
I hardly ever wear this crop top I bought years ago from Forever 21, since it has always been a risqué too for me, but now is as good as time as any to try different styles.
These whit jeans from H&M are some of my favorite, especially with the gold zippers on the bottom. The zippers on the pockets also make the outfit a bit more colorful, and fit perfectly in the color scheme of my outfit.
A light denim jacket was a perfect way to top this look off, I used it as a good way to cover up if need be, but I left it in buttoned to show off the necklaces. It was a nice pop of color, the light blue standing out against the white articles of clothing.
The shoes, my go to for so many outfits, even if they are a size too big. When your mom buys shoes on Black Friday, you were them. These have been a staple in my closet, always allowing me to feel comfortable and confident whenever I put them on.
The details of an outfit matter, the sunglasses can be the staple pieces, or maybe the shoes help you stand out. Let me know what accessories you’ve been loving at the moment, and if you are into gold jewelry as much as I am.
Good morning everyone! I hope you all are well and had an amazing weekend!
Today’s post is talking about my style. I am a self proclaimed fashion blogger, and have thought about how I can talk about my personal style, but also make it interesting to you all. I wanted to share an outfit that I feel comfortable in, but one that is very simple.
Every single person has their personal style, and I hope that I can give you even a simple idea of what that means to me and how I hope you can start to figure out what you like to wear.
This outfit is very basic, it consists of a cropped shirt, shorts and sneakers. These are my favorite pair of shoes, classic all white adidas that I was too scared to wear. I thought they would always get dirty, but I did not see the point of having shoes in their boxes and only wearing them twice a year. I love wearing white shoes, it elevated the outfit into something more confident, it was the main focus of the outfit. I suggest wearing an outfit with an accessory or piece of clothing that pops, something unexpected that allows you to try something different when wearing an outfit. That may be a larger earring than you would usually have, a belt, a bright sweater or skirt over an outfit consisting of white/blue/gray and maybe even black.
I wore the longline thin cardigan I use constantly. I liked how it looked when it was on, and when it was dangling from my shoulders a bit. I love wearing sweatshirts and jackets off the shoulders or around my arms, it makes the outfits more laid back, and not feel as suffocated when I wear them for long periods of time.
I realized that when I take outfit pictures I never know what to do with my hands, so I made sure that I was holding something, which ended up being a watering can I found in my backyard, that we haven’t used in sometime. I liked that my hands were busy, but I did not realize how big the watering can was, and it ended up covering my shorts.
Whatever style you go for, make sure you are comfortable. Whether it is a skirt, a dress or a cropped top and jeans, wear it with confidence.
Hello! This blog post is something different. I usually don’t wear a lot of makeup, even when I am out with friends. In high school I never wore it, and as a freshman in college I realized what I was missing. Every girl in my hall would have such pretty makeup looks, and I was lucky enough to learn a thing or two from one of my friends that was really good at it. She showed me what looks could come from the makeup I own, and I loved the gold eyeshadow she would use.
My friend is really into makeup and she’s taken me to Sephora quite frequently so I’ve learned a bout different makeup products and which ones would look good on me.
That has always been difficult, since I am a women of color and a lot of the makeup tutorials I’ve seen are girls who dont really look like me, but I’ve found some looks that work that I wear a lot. I wanted to try something different, such as this pink look. I tend to wear peach, light pink, maybe gold once in a while. My friend did my eyes and I love the bright pink, as well as the lips and the highlighter I got.
This was a moment where I went out of my comfort zone and really tried experimenting with my makeup, and I loved the result. I am going to try different makeup looks with brighter colors. Let me knw what your go to makeup look is x
Good morning everyone! Hope you had a great weekend. Today I wanted to post about my journey with this blog of mine. I got the inspiration from a fellow blogger, Francisca. You can find her blog here. She spoke of her journey throughout the years she has had her blog, I wanted to do the same.
I started my blog when I was in high school, in December of 2013, when I was a junior in high school. I made it because I wanted to have a place to keep all my outfit pictures, to look back on them and see how my style has evolved.
I would simply post pictures, and move on with my day. As time went on, I realized people would not simply want to look at pictures but get some back story. I started posting captions along with the blog posts, stating where my clothes is from and why I decided to wear that outfit.
I wanted to plan outfits, so I would use the website polyvore, which is sadly no longer an active site. I would make outfits I would want to wear in the future, with clothes I wanted similar version of and post those on my blog to still have some content posted over time, even if it wasn’t my personal style.
With life, came a lot of changes. When I moved to a different city for my freshman year of college, I did not update my blog as much. I was focused on classes, making friends and adjusting to being away from home. Luckily my second year, I was able to navigate my time a little more and was updating my Instagram and blog on a more regular basis, which allowed for me to connect with others more than ever before.
I also never thought about making an Instagram or twitter account until later on. About two years after making my blog I realized how vital Instagram would be, that I could connect with more bloggers and see who all was sharing their personal style. The first account I ever made was huesofstylex, which was my old blog name. I made it and decided I hated the pictures I posted so I deleted it when I had 600 followers.
I then made the one I have know, onewithboots that has nearly 1,300 followers. My Instagram growth has not been as positive as I wanted it to be, but I have learned a lot over the years. That is:
interacting with other bloggers is key
be genuine when talking to other bloggers
don’t be afraid to be honest about different parts of your life, there is so much more behind a pretty picture than what is said
Social media has been vital to my blog, I recently reached 100 followers on my twitter account (thank you very much) after having it for 2 years now.
I wanted to say thank you to all of you who have read my blog, it means so much. Let me know a bit about your blogging journey in the comments below.
