2018 in pictures

Today is the last day of 2018. This year has been such an important one in my life. I realized that my plans were going to be achieved later than expected, allowing me to truly think about my next steps.

This is my fourth year in college, and I am no where near graduating. Accepting that fact has been hard, but I know that taking more one is not a bad thing. It took me a while to pass classes like math and science, but I did it!

And after years of secretly wanting to learn how to drive, but always being scared to attempt any action towards it, I got my license, and yesterday was 2 months of having it. These 2 months have been fun, and have challenged me to think clearly to make sure I am being as safe as possible.

This year, I took a break from my blog. I’ve been thinking about what this blog means to me, and sometimes it feels like time to say goodbye. Not to delete it, but to keep it as a memory when I need inspiration, or to look back to remind myself of what I can accomplish.

Lately I’ve been interested in making YouTube videos, and have been taking videos when I go shopping with friends. Maybe 2019 will become the year I attempt to be a youtuber..

The following pictures are ones I took throughout the year but never blogged about. Some were from months ago, others as recently as this week, the one with the fanny pack being from Christmas Day.

Let me know what outfits you like, as well as what you accomplished in 2018.

See you in 2019.

My blogging journey

Good morning everyone! Hope you had a great weekend. Today I wanted to post about my journey with this blog of mine. I got the inspiration from a fellow blogger, Francisca. You can find her blog here. She spoke of her journey throughout the years she has had her blog, I wanted to do the same.

I started my blog when I was in high school, in December of 2013, when I was a junior in high school. I made it because I wanted to have a place to keep all my outfit pictures, to look back on them and see how my style has evolved.

I would simply post pictures, and move on with my day. As time went on, I realized people would not simply want to look at pictures but get some back story. I started posting captions along with the blog posts, stating where my clothes is from and why I decided to wear that outfit.

I wanted to plan outfits, so  I would use the website polyvore, which is sadly no longer an active site. I would make outfits I would want to wear in the future, with clothes I wanted similar version of and post those on my blog to still have some content posted over time, even if it wasn’t my personal style.

With life, came a lot of changes. When I moved to a different city for my freshman year of college, I did not update my blog as much. I was focused on classes, making friends and adjusting to being away from home. Luckily my second year, I was able to navigate my time a little more and was updating my Instagram and blog on a more regular basis, which allowed for me to connect with others more than ever before.

I also never thought about making an Instagram or twitter account until later on. About two years after making my blog I realized how vital Instagram would be, that I could connect with more bloggers and see who all was sharing their personal style. The first account I ever made was huesofstylex, which was my old blog name. I made it and decided I hated the pictures I posted so I deleted it when I had 600 followers.

I then made the one I have know, onewithboots that has nearly 1,300 followers. My Instagram growth has not been as positive as I wanted it to be, but I have learned a lot over the years. That is:

interacting with other bloggers is key

be genuine when talking to other bloggers

don’t be afraid to be honest about different parts of your life, there is so much more behind a pretty picture than what is said

Social media has been vital to my blog, I recently reached 100 followers on my twitter account (thank you very much) after having it for 2 years now.

I wanted to say thank you to all of you who have read my blog, it means so much. Let me know a bit about your blogging journey in the comments below.

Trying new things

Good morning everyone! Hope you’re having a lovely Sunday! Here is my latest outfit posts wearing one of my favorite shirts. When I bought this shirt I was kind of nervous, it looked so small and it felt risqué when I tried it on. I wanted to push my comfort levels a bit with this purchase, and I did. I definitely felt really feminine when I wore it, I love how it fits and how I automatically feel more confident wearing it. I wore high wasted jeans and Birkenstocks with them, to keep it more casual.

Classic

I love simple outfits. Outfits that make sense, that are both comfortable yet make me feel beautiful. This outfit makes me feel more girly than usual, and I was happy to wear my favorite color, bright red.

I bought this oversized adidas tee and skirt when I was shopping with my girls. I’ve gotten more and more into the adidas brand, going to the adidas store and buying workout clothes as well.

This to me is so classic, especially the black button up skirt, also a must have (in my opinion) that I’m happy to add to my closet ❤️

My twin and I (yeah I have one) spent my day off taking pictures in the downtown area of our hometown, and we kept finding places we’d never seen before. Funny how even thought I’ve been living in a place for my whole life I still feel like a tourist from time to time.

Here is one of my classic outfits that I can’t wait to wear differently (this shirt can be a tshirt dress and this skirt can go with so many different tops) throughout the rest than of the summer.
What outfits are you excited to wear? Let me know 😊

Family day

I had a day off from work so I went with my mom to run errands. Those usually consist of going to the Mexican store to buy meat and vegetables. As we were leaving we had to stop by the store a few doors down to buy bread. We noticed that they had fruit cups, consisting of chamoy, which is a sauce put on fruits such as mango.

As we walked to the car, my younger brother took endless picture of us, and I liked how they came out. They were a representation of my relationship with my mom, always laughing and joking around. I was also really excited to finally wear this shirt I bought at pacsun, (thank you buy one get one free ☺️) since it’s see through I wore a bralette from target. This has been one of my favorite outfits, because I feel more and more comfortable with my body. I’ve gained a bit of weight in my stomach, and that’s fine. It’s weird not having a flat stomach, but all I wanna focus on is being happy and healthy.
