Coffee Shop Daze

Hello! Welcome to another blog post. I honestly never know how to start these, introductions are always the hardest parts in anything I do.

This post is one I am very excited about, given the location. As time goes on and I think about where I want my blog to be, I realize that the quality of my content has to develop and grow. Taking pictures of my outfits in my backyard is something I want to stray away from. I am taking advantage of the beautiful scenery in my city, finding all the treasures that allow me to show of both my city and the outfits I love so much.

These pictures were taken by one of my oldest friends, Vivian. Whenever we hangout she asks if I want to take outfit pictures, and would I really be a blogger if I declined? We hadn’t talked in a while since school kept us so busy, so we had a great excuse to hangout and see what we’ve been up to over the last couple of months.

We went to a coffee shop in the downtown part of our city, one I had only been twice before. I loved the aesthetic of the place. It is full of bookshelves, plants and wooden furniture. They use old books when giving receipts, and their bar is rather impressive. The bottles reach the ceiling in an intricate way of assortment that lines the middle of the building.

Neither of us are really fans of coffee, so we tried tome sweet iced teas. The moment we got our drinks, we took our phones out of our pockets and started to take pictures. I used the flash, she grabbed a book from behind me and we started to create as many different combinations of flat lays.

She took my picture while we waited for our tacos, and at first I felt awkward taking pictures in a place full of people, but I liked my outfit and wanted to share it with you all. When people walked in and out they would make eye contact and I would feel somewhat conceited, but I carried on.

I felt good, and I wanted to embrace that feeling. I kept moving to every different chair around us, trying to get the best angles and great lighting. Every picture was so different, it captured both my outfit as well as the attempt at doing my makeup. I always stick to highlighter, mascara and lipstick. I love using highlighter because I like the glow it gives my face in pictures, especially with natural lighting.

Let me know what you think of this outfit and if you like the location. Have a great day x

Back to the start

These pictures where taken at my old university, the one I transferred out from. I hadn’t been back since I left last year, leaving my friends behind to try and sort out what exactly I wanted to study.

Being there was a sense of deja vu, remembering everything that happened in the last two years and how hard it was to walk away.

I saw no point in staying, my credits weren’t what they needed to be, so I left to try and salvage some time. My best friend from fourth grade goes here, so I thought I was going to lose a friend, but luckily we are just as close as ever.

Coming back I wore an outfit I felt was a bit out of my comfort zone, Something I don’t think I would have worn before, the bandana around my neck, the small sunglasses and the hoop earrings all gave me a sense of confidence.

When o went back I realized that the right choices aren’t always the easiest.

P.s: thank you for 300 followers on my blog and 1,000 on twitter! It means so much to know o have such amazing support from all of you.

Hello!

Today’s blog post is something I’ve been meaning to share. Being busy with school and work can often lead me to a lot of different emotions, one being how I view myself in this vast world we live in.

There are moments which make me think about how I live my life, and how blessed I am to be able to even type this.

I get so caught up in social media, in being an “it” girl that has thousands of Instagram followers, people that want to know what she wears and where she gets it.

If you must know, I bought this shirt for $6 at a thrift store, the sunglasses were on sale for $10 at Pacsun, the shoes a Christmas present and the jeans were my older sisters. I don’t have name brands to share with you, the most I’ve ever worn is Tommy Hilfiger, and am okay with that right now.

I want to own and wear clothes that do not create a facade about me, but rather have a style all my own. I may never be one of the girls that pop up on the explore page on Instagram with over 1,000 likes but maybe the few that look at my outfits and my accounts get to know someone they genuinely like.

I’m tired of trying to copy the pictures I see on Tumblr, and not use the word “inspired” when I mean, “I wish I was the girl in the picture”

For all those bloggers that do have such beautiful photos and have started careers as bloggers, I am so proud of you and hope your blogs reflect how amazing you are. It’s time for me to do the same.

Light shine through

Good morning everyone! Happy Monday! These last few weeks have been filled with exams, quizzes and papers. I am over half way done with this term and everything Is coming to fruition in rather quickly. I’ve been spending most of my days sitting in my room trying to study for all my classes, and ultimately picking one over the other which I have tried to get better at.

This post is something I just wanted to share when I was bored laying in bed probably just going through my phone instead of studying.

My window is a rather big in my room and the light comes through the curtain we got. I moved some things off my sisters white desk. I used my self timer to take these pictures because I wanted to have mini photo shoot in a room with the desk in with the chair we had bought.

I took some pictures of me in this dress I bought from forever 21 wearing make up I had done five minutes before to take these pictures. I love how makeup looks in the sun light, especially highlighter.

Let me know what you think of this outfit and what if you’ve done any impromptu photo shoots you’ve ended up really enjoying.

Trench coats

Happy Saturday everyone! I hope your week was great and your weekend even better. I’ve been in class and working on school work for the week, gearing up to take finals in about 2 weeks.

It’s crazy to think about how fast my term has gone, but I’m glad I’ve focused and been able to keep my grades to a high level recently.

I have classes on Mondays and Wednesdays so after class I hangout downtown in my city. It is always fun to walk around and find amazing backgrounds for my pictures, and it encourages me to be confident in taking outfit pictures even if people are around. A couple of weeks ago my twin and I went to buy milkshakes and go to the library for a bit. It was really fun to try different places and take outfit pictures.

I wore a trench coat that I got from a family friend 2 years ago. I guess that reminds me that I’m the same size now as I was then. I wore it with a sweater I bought at goodwill, jeans from TJMAXX and my vans. I don’t usually wear this trench coat since it can be really thick and often feel heavy but it was freezing so it worked that day. I’ve always wanted to buy more thin trench coats that are camel & black colors, just classic ones I can wear all the time.

This year I’ve been trying to venture out in my personal style and wear clothes that is both comfortable but also stylish, to wear different types of pants such as cargo pants, culottes, jeans with different designs like flares or straight down instead of the usual skinny jeans I wear. I have so many clothes I don’t want to just donate it all, I want to see what I can wear with it and how I can improve my style without having to buy a large amount of clothes.

Game night

Hello! This past weekend I went to a Portland trailblazers game (a basketball team if you were wondering) and it was really fun to share this experience for the first time with my younger brother.

I realize I’ve had this blog for 5 years but would forgot about it for such a long time that I’ve never posted anything other than my school life and my fashion inspiration. Well there is so much more to me, including my love of sports.

Whenever I go to Portland I love taking pictures, it is such an artistic place and the scenery is amazing. Yet every time I go its to one specific place for a few hours and back home again so I never really get to walk around and see what the city is really like. Either way, I wore a really nice outfit. It was a red and white Adidas shirt with black jeans, I thin black and white cardigan and my Adidas.

These pair of shoes are my favorite piece in my closet. They are white with hints of cream next to the shoelaces, and I can never get over how crisp and clean they are. I realized I took pictures at night with the flash on when I could of taken these exact ones during the day with natural lighting. Who knows, maybe I’ll wear this outfit again and take clear pictures with my camera. Whatever happens, I love this color combination. Black and white go with everything, and red is my favorite color ever so why not?

What are your favorite articles of clothing in your closet? Let me know in the comments!

Sweet

I celebrated my friend’s 21st birthday with her last month. We were all so busy so this was the only time we could do it even thought her birthday was in January. We went to her favorite restaurant which is a really good pizzeria right next to target.

The moment my friend saw me she complimented me on my outfit, which I really appreciated. I usually never wear just tank tops but this cropped sweater felt really warm and looked even better with the black tank top. I finished it off with my go to black jeans and the vans my mom bought me and are a size to big. I went for a simple makeup look, wanting to just keep both my outfit and makeup casual.

My friend and I hung out after the dinner and of course we ended up at target. I was really excited to hangout with al my friends since school and work has kept us all extremely busy. She and I aimlessly walked around target trying to find some things for her to buy for her nephew, and I ended up in one of my favorite aisles: the ice cream one. This is nothing new, since we would often go on snack runs at random hours of the night when we lived in the same hall.

Some things just never change, and I’m happy I have someone to walk around Target at random hours.

Valentines

Hey beautiful people! Today is Valentine’s Day, and I spent it reflecting. I thought about the friends I have and how much I love the friendships we share. I tend to try and make my friends feel as special as I can, and I hope I did that today. Texting my friends to make sure they are feeling loved, regardless of their romantic relationships. This was a perfect example of me spending time with the most important people I know.

This is Brenda, I’ve known her since sophomore year of high school. She has been by my side throughout all the emotional breakdowns I’ve had because of school, life and relationships. She’s someone I can be completely myself with and I know she will never judge me, too much. She is an example of an amazing friend, and I can’t wait to see what amazing things she does in California. Thank you Brenda for being here for me, I love you.
