Underground

Happy Friday everyone! I just wanted to start this post by saying thank you!

Thank you for liking my posts, following me on my social media accounts and giving me so many compliments. Its been a long time since I felt so much support for my blog, and it means so much. Knowing that you all enjoy my content is such an amazing feeling, and it makes me feel so inspired to keep on growing my blog to its full potential.

This blog post is inspired by something my sister said: “you’re really into underground” which refers to music. I was gushing about how excited I am to finally go to see one of my favorite bands in concert, Twenty One Pilots. I am actually wearing one of their shirts as I type this. I discovered their music when I was in high school, in 2014.

I have loved their music since the beginning, when they would get maybe 200,000 views on their videos, back when their songs were far from being on movie soundtracks or radio stations.  When the only albums they had were their self titled debut, and Vessel. It is so amazing to know how a group can succeed so quickly, from unknowns to winning grammys.

They are approaching their third album, and when I listen to their albums I feel a sense of nostalgia, an image of me studying as a senior coming back to my head. I would send my friends their songs. hoping they would listen to the music and agree with me that their music was so unique, so inspirational and poignant, especially when we were teenagers. Tyler and Josh spoke of real life issues, of mental health and how life is not always perfect, their are issues that need to be addressed, and they continue to address them throughout their music, always growing and learning more about life.

There is another artist that I discovered early one, a young teenage girl by the name of Billie Ellish. Her music was infectious, constantly in head, even thought she had only released two songs. I found her music on youtube, listening to different playlists and landing on the song, “She’s broken” which is still one of my favorites from her.

Let me know if you have loved bands before they got mainstream, or any bands you’d like me to listen to.

  1. I’m so pleased you’re feeling inspired to keep blogging, that’s great news! TBH I don’t know the band or the singer you’ve mentioned (the perils of being an older blogger, haha) but I do remember how excited I was to see INXS in concert when I was at university. It’s a golden memory that will always stay with me 🙂 x

  2. I’m so glad that you’ve been feeling supported lately, it’s great that you feel like your blog is being valued. I’ve never listened to Billie Ellish but you’ve got me curious. I used to really like Twenty One Pilots so maybe I’ll like her stuff too x
